“What Is a Parish Assembly?
• A Parish Assembly is a gathering of the whole parish community to listen deeply to the Holy Spirit and to one another.
• It is not a debate or a business meeting.
• It is a Spirit led conversation that helps us discern how God is inviting our parish to grow in faith, service, and mission.
A Time for Deep Listening
At the Assembly, we will use a process called “Conversation in the Spirit”, which involves:
• Listening to the Holy Spirit
• Listening to one another without judgement
• Listening for God’s hopes for our parish
• Discerning a way forward together
Why We Gather
The Parish Assembly is an opportunity to:
• Strengthen unity and belonging
• Share hopes, needs, and insights
• Recognise and honour the charisms (spiritual gifts) within the community
• Invite every member of our parish community to participate in shaping our future
This is a moment to reflect on who we are and who God is calling us to be as individuals and as a parish.
What to Expect
You can expect:
• A respectful, welcoming atmosphere
• Deep listening
• Spirit-led sharing and conversation
Many Gifts, One Body – Romans 12:4–8
“ For as in one body we have many members, and all the members do not have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them:” (Romans 12:4–8)
Through baptism, each of us is welcomed into the Body of Christ, gifted charisms by the Holy Spirit and called to contribute to the Church’s life and mission. The Parish Assembly is a moment to discern that call together.
Parish Assembly prayer:
We thank God for the gift of baptism that brings us together as companions on a journey and for the diversity, love and generous hearts within our parish. We are thankful for the sharing of our gifts of time, labour, laughter and prayer that keep us together as a Community of Christ.
We pray that the parish assembly will bring us closer and give us a unified purpose as we journey together. May the Holy Spirit guide us, open our hearts and help us listen deeply to each other with empathy and humility. Enable us to share God’s Love with each other, our families, our workplaces and our community. Amen.
